Quinn's Hot Springs has been a Western Montana bathing destination since the late 1800s, when the source was used by trappers and the Salish people who hunted this stretch of the Clark Fork drainage. The current resort took shape across the twentieth century and the Luxury River-View Cabins were added in 2001; the property is now one of the most-photographed Montana hot springs and serves as the regional anchor for Sanders County tourism.
The pools are split into two products. Five outdoor natural flow-through mineral pools form the heart of the resort, with temperatures stepping from 100 F to 106 F and a 55 F cold plunge for contrast. The flow-through design means water is continuously replaced from the natural source rather than recirculated and chemically treated, which is what most Western hot springs experiences mean when they describe water as 'natural.' Two additional salt-treated swim pools kept in the upper 90s serve families and swimmers who want a cleaner indoor-style swim.
Lodging is unusually generous for a hot springs resort. Two main lodges and over 25 cabins line the canyon walls and the Clark Fork River bank. Cabin tiers range from rustic to the 2001 Luxury River-View Cabins which are the top-of-resort experience with private river-facing decks, mountain views, and modern construction. The resort has 83 total rentals on the property; for a hot springs operation this is a substantial overnight footprint.
Practically, Quinn's is a road-trip resort. Missoula is 95 minutes south on I-90 and MT-135; Spokane is three and a quarter hours west; Glacier is three and a quarter hours northeast. The on-property Quinn's Tavern handles meals (buffalo burger, ribeye, prime rib are the standards) and a separate fine-dining option covers heavier evenings. The drive up MT-135 along the Clark Fork is one of the underrated Montana scenic drives in its own right.
